  2. There is no pool session tonight due to Bank holiday.
  3. 1. Sea trip - Sea kayak needed. This is an 8 mile open crossing where conditions could change and we will be in exposed water. Previous experience of sea paddling expected. 2. Starting from Silloth, paddle across the estuary to Southerness Point on the ebb, wait for the tide to turn before returning on the flood. About 16 miles, 2-2.5hrs paddling each way. 3. Meet at Kendal Leisure Centre at 8am. It’s about a 1.5hr drive to Silloth, or meet there next to Lifeboat Station (GR NY106537) @ 9.45am. Aim to be on the water for 10.30am. 4. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 5. Any special notes: LW Silloth 1330 (Neaps). Bring a flask, lunch, money for ice cream and a compass to help with navigation.   4. 1. Sea trip - Sea kayak needed 2. Starting from Saltburn-by-the-Sea, paddle south to Runswick Bay. About 11 miles, 5 hrs. Probably stop for lunch at Skinningrove after the first headland and later at Staithes maybe for an Ice-cream. 3. Meet at Kendal Leisure Centre at 6.50am. It’s about a 2 hr drive to Saltburn, maybe 1 hour for a shuttle to Runswick Bay. Aim to be on the water for 11am. 4. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 5. Any special notes: HW R Tees 1310 (Neaps). Bring a flask, lunch, money for ice cream and wheels if you have them. Friday night update: Forecast for Saturday looks like Northerly F4-5, with current wave height 3.5-6' (swell from the North East), so this will probably be bigger still tomorrow. Plan B: West is best. New plan, N Solway coast (nr Dalbeattie). Start at Sandyhills Bay at 12.30, ebb for 3hrs (LW 15.30) playing in the rocks, then return to Sandyhills. Swell is light, wind NW 2-3 (sheltered). Meet Kendal Leisure 9.30am or at Sandyhills 1200 noon. Click on the RSVP to add you name to the list.
  5. 1. Complete ‘circumnavigation’ around Lakelands 2nd largest lake from Waterside Farm camp site in the NE – with lunch and possible ice-cream on route. 15 miles, about 5hrs. This could be in any craft, sea kayaks would be the preferred choice, but be aware of the weather conditions and the drag of short boats! It’s a long way! 2. Meet at Waterside Farm camp site (GR 463230) - 10am. We can park our cars there, but it will cost £5 per vehicle. Remember Pooley Bridge is out, so access will need to be the B5320 from Penrith. 3. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 4. Any special notes: We’ll be doing a round trip so there will be no need for a shuttle. Bring a flask and lunch for a stop en route and money for possible ice-cream stop at Glenridding. T What a forecast! Force 6-7 Westerly, 1-2degrees with snow showers. I'm going to go anyway, it will be a headwind at the start and see how many metres I get before surfing back! Note: Pooley Bridge and Eamont Bridge closed. Starting from beach car park at Drigg (N of Ravenglass), heading SSE passing the nature reserve to Ravenglass, then up the Esk estuary towards Muncaster Castle as far as we can get, lunch, then return to Drigg. About 14 miles, 5 hrs. 3. Meet at 8.50am at Kendal Leisure Centre to share transport, or 10.30am at Drigg beach car park. 4. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 5. Any special notes: HW Tarn Point 1350hrs. We'll aim to be on the water for 11am. Bring a flask and lunch. Friday night update - good to go! Conditions look good, F3 Easterly. See you at Drigg/Leisure Centre as above.   7. 1. Paddle the length of Windermere from Newby Bridge to Waterhead. 12 miles, 4-5hrs. This could be in any craft, sea kayaks to open boats, but be aware of the weather conditions and the drag of short boats! It’s a long way! 3. Meet at Ambleside YHA 9.30am 4. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 5. Any special notes: We’ll leave one car at the Youth Hostel and drive to Newby Bridge with the kit. Bring a flask and lunch for a stop en route, we'll stop for a brew in the café at the end. The trip is weather dependent - Friday night update: good to go, SE 3-4 during the day, gales at night!   8. 1. Sea kayak trip – From Jubilee Bridge (Walney), paddling down the channel, past Roa to Piel Island. Stop for lunch and wait for tides to change before returning up the channel to Jubilee Bridge. 2. Saturday 22nd November 2015 3. Meeting on the roadside on Walney Island, next to the slipway, on the N side of Jubilee Bridge at 11.30am 5. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 6. Any special notes: LW is at 1430, we'll aim to be on the water for 12.00 noon. Bring a flask, lunch and money for the Ship Inn (if its open!). Around 10miles, 4 hours, should be back just before dark! Friday night update - Looks like a fresh Northerly, but dropping as the day goes on and cold (near freezing), dress up warm! Starting from car park at Rascarrel Bay (GR NX 801480), paddle NE on the flood to Balcary Point, across to Heston Island, Castlehill Point, Rough Island, Rockcliffe to Kippford (for an ice cream), returning on the ebb via Almorness Point to Rascarrel Bay. About 15 miles, 6 hrs. Basically flood for 3 hours and ebb for 3 hours with a lunch stop en route. 3. Meet at Kendal Leisure Centre if needed to share transport at 7.45am. Leave Kendal 8am, to be on the water for 11am. 4. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 5. Any special notes: HW Heston Island 1400 (Springs). Bring a flask, lunch and money for ice cream!. Windy inshore forecast: S or SW F4 or 5, occasionally F6. Great as a tail wind, hard work as head/beam wind! Meet as planned, we'll see how we get on! Click on the RSVP to add you name to the list.
  10. 1. Sea trip - Sea kayak needed 2. Starting from Whitehaven, paddling under the committing but majestic cliffs of St Bees Head, round to St Bees beach. About 6.5 miles, 2-3 hrs. 3. Meet at St Bees 11.45am (car park at N end of beach by the ILB station. 4. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 5. Any special notes: LW Liverpool 1440. We'll transfer kit and drive to Whitehaven to be on the water for 1pm. The in-shore waters forecast F3-4 and there will be a good swell running which will be chaotic in the overfalls and a good brace/roll is essential. We're still on with a meet at St. Bees at 11.45am. Starting from beach car park at Biggar (SW Walney Island), heading south passing the nature reserve, seal sanctuary, Piel Island and up the Walney Channel to Jubilee Bridge. About 11 miles, 4 hrs. 3. Meet at 9.00am on the Walney side of Jubilee Bridge – by the slipway. 4. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 5. Any special notes: HW Liverpool 1440. We'll transfer kit and drive to Biggar (GR183662) to be on the water for 9.45am. Bring a flask and lunch. The trip is weather dependent - Friday night: good to go! 9am at Jubilee Bridge.
