  12. 1. Sea trip - Sea kayak needed. 2. From West Shore Beach in Llandudno, paddling around Gt Orme’s Head, across Llandudno Bay and Little Ormes Head to Rhos-on-Sea. Depending on wind, there could be some choppy water off the headlands. Around 10miles, roughly 4 hours depending on how good the caves are! 3. Meeting at Kendal Leisure Centre at 7.00am. We’ll aim to be at Rhos-on-Sea for 10.00am, leave car and drive to West Shore Beach to be on the water 11.30am. 4. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 5. Any special notes: Bring a flask and lunch. A trolley would be useful for the put in if you have one. FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE: F4 SW, with current wave height at Rhyl Flats 1-1.5'. Not a bad forecast. With wind against tide going out around the headland should create a bit of fun. Meet as planned in email for 5 paddlers... I will add map of meeting point and confirm phone number in another email before 6pm.
  13. 1. Sea trip - Sea kayak needed 2. Starting from Saltburn-by-the-Sea, paddle south to Runswick Bay. About 11 miles, 5 hrs. Probably stop for lunch at Skinningrove after the first headland and later at Staithes maybe for an Ice-cream. 3. Meet at Kendal Leisure Centre at 7.20am. It’s about a 2 hr drive to Saltburn, maybe 1 hour for a shuttle to Runswick Bay. Aim to be on the water for 11.30am. 4. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 5. Any special notes: HW R Tees 1340 (Neaps). Bring a flask, lunch, money for ice cream and wheels if you have them. UPDATED THURSDAY: Trip cancelled. Wind continues F5 Easterly, current wave height at Whitby wave buoy 5.5 - 9' swell! The winds are continuing from same direction and same strength so the swell will probably just increase! Click on the RSVP to add you name to the list.

  19. 1. Sea trip - Sea kayak needed 2. Starting from beach car park at Drigg (N of Ravenglass), heading SSE passing the nature reserve to Ravenglass, then up the Esk estuary towards Muncaster Castle as far as we can get, lunch, then return to Drigg. About 14 miles, 5.5 hrs. 3. Meet at 9.50am at Kendal Leisure Centre to share transport, or 11.40am at Drigg beach car park. 4. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 5. Any special notes: HW Tarn Point: 1510hrs. We'll aim to be on the water for 12.35pm. Bring a flask and lunch, wheels useful for the beach at Drigg if you have them. T Friday night update: Good to go, although a fair swell is remaining from the stronger winds these last few days, it should settle overnight. Meet at Drigg, 11.40am. Click on the RSVP to add you name to the list.
  20. 1. Complete paddle around Thirlmere Reservoir from Armboth – with lunch on route. 12 miles, about 4½ hrs. This could be in any craft, sea kayaks would be the preferred choice, but be aware of the weather conditions and the drag of short boats! 2. Meet at Kendal Leisure Centre 9am or Armboth Car Park at 10am. It’s a Pay & Display car park. 3. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 4. Any special notes: We’ll be doing a round trip so there will be no need for a shuttle. Bring a flask and lunch for a stop en route. Depending on wind, we may start from a different location. The trip is weather dependent - check this message on Friday night! FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE: Weather looking quite good now...F3-4, SSE. Meet as planned. Click on the RSVP to add your name to the list.
  21. No longer Solway coast as firing range is being used! 1. Sea kayak trip – From West Shore Beach in Llandudno, paddling around Gt Orme’s Head, across Llandudno Bay and Little Ormes Head to Rhos-on-Sea. Depending on wind, there could be some choppy water off the headlands. Around 10miles, roughly 4 hours depending on how good the caves are! 2. Saturday 4th February 2017 3. Meeting at Kendal Leisure Centre at 7.30am. We’ll aim to be at Rhos-on-Sea for 10.15am, leave car(s) and drive to West Shore Beach to be on the water 11.30am.. 4. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 5. Any special notes: Bring a flask and lunch. A trolley would be useful for the put in if you have one…flat beach and near low water! Click on the RSVP to add you name to the list. FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE: Trip CANCELLED. Difficult decision...forecast (local) F3-4, but Rhyll Flats wave buoy currently showing 2.5-4' swell. This may well ease, though forecast still for stronger winds overnight. The overfalls would provide some 'interesting' water, but the idea is also to explore the coastline which wouldn't be possible with the swell. We'll put the trip on again later... 13/5/17 - see calendar.
  22. 1. Sea trip - Sea kayak needed. This should be a relatively sheltered trip, with a good flow, possible tide race, under the viaduct. 2. Saturday 14th January 2017 3. Starting from Canal Foot in Ulverston, catching the flood as far as we can make it up past Greenodd and towards Haverthwaite, stopping for lunch, and then returning on the ebb. About 12miles, 4 hrs for the round trip. 4. Meeting place 10.45am at Canal Foot, Ulverston to be on the water for 11.15am. 5. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 6. Any special notes: HW Barrow 12.30, 9.8m (springs). Bring a flask and lunch and dress warm (with pogies or gloves!) Forecast is NW 5-7, decreasing 4. This will probably provide some fun as we head Northwards on the flood with wind against tide, but it will assist us on the way back. It's sheltered in most parts. It will be cold - just above freezing! Meet as planned. Click on the RSVP to add you name to the list.
  23. 1. Complete paddle around Lakelands 2nd largest lake from Waterside Farm camp site in the NE – with lunch on route. 15 miles, about 5hrs. This could be in any craft, sea kayaks would be the preferred choice, but be aware of the weather conditions and the drag of short boats! It’s a long way! 2. Meet at Waterside Farm camp site (GR 463230) - 10am. We can park our cars there, but it will cost £5 per vehicle. 3. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 4. Any special notes: We’ll be doing a round trip so there will be no need for a shuttle. Bring a flask and lunch for a stop en route. FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE: Although forecast F5 (W/SW), we should get some shelter from Western shore when paddling S and we'll have more fun getting blown back! Meet as planned. Click on the RSVP to add you name to the list.
  24. 1. Paddle the length of Windermere from Newby Bridge to Waterhead. 12 miles, 4-5hrs. This could be in any craft, sea kayaks to open boats, but be aware of the weather conditions and the drag of short boats! It’s a long way! 2. Meet at YHA Ambleside - 9.30am 3. Trip leader: Robin Everingham 4. Any special notes: We’ll leave a car at YHA Ambleside and drive with the kit to Newby Bridge to put on above the weir by the Sun Inn, with a short upstream paddle to get into the lake. Bring a flask and lunch for a stop en route. The trip is weather dependent - check this message on Friday night! FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE: We have been blessed with the weather again!
