  7. This section of the Kent is mainly Grade 2, with a few short, sharp sections of Grade 4, which can all be portaged.
  8. Water levels OK, so plan to meet at the small car park behind Burneside Spar/convenience store at 12:30 today. Shuttle up to Staveley, park at the car park above the Weir outside the village and decide where to put on.
  9. Realistically, I won’t be free til 12:00 earliest, hence 13:00 start time. Suggest we check water levels at breakfast time and make a plan then?
  10. Please note the later than usual start time!

Weather permitting it looks like we will be able to run this as planned. I will be leading the first session, with lots of support from Mike Hayward. We will focus on bank-based rescue rather than boat-based rescue, BUT YOU WILL GET WET, so please come with all your WW gear EXCEPT the kayak. Please also bring any safety or rescue equipment you possess and think is relevant, but don't buy anything else in advance. Location is very likely* to be the Lune at Devil's Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale - the normal exit for those running the Lune. (*If this changes, I'll confirm via this page or WhatsApp). The main limitation is the shorter evenings, so please try and be on the bank ready to go by 5pm. Any questions, Phil Clayton - 0785 0202405

This is an introductory course in White Water Safety and Rescue. It will be delivered over two short evening sessions, by club members who have been through the formal BC WWSR course. The focus is on practical steps to help you stay safe on Whitewater, whether a beginner or an expert. Location tbc closer to the date, but likely to be the Leven, Lune or Kent. Please RSVP in plenty of time so we can ensure we have enough experienced people on hand. Any questions, please speak to Phil Clayton the trip co-ordinator (0785 0202405) N.B. This is a peer-led effort to help club members improve their skills. It is not a formal WWSR course, and does not lead to any qualifications.

Mike, I won’t make the 14/15th, but hope to join you from Monday.
