  1. Mark from Barrow Sue and Sten from Ulverston and Matt from Greenodd. We could all go in one but there are three big boats so it might be tight on the roof rack. Open to suggestions but as an opening gambit how about I pick Sue up and Mark and Matt meet up at Greenodd?
  2. Hi Grant, my mobile is 07835448621 just in case. Where are you travelling from?

A multi day sea kayaking trip probably NW Scotland. Final destination and route will be decided nearer the time. Maximum group size of six, three places are taken already. We need a minimum of two cars so there will be an option to share transport but if we get another three takers it will probably be worth taking a third car. Preferably, weather permitting, this would be a seven or eight day self supported journey. We try to enjoy these trips so typically cover 25 - 30 KM / day. Though will we do longer days if need be. This is a peer trip, not a guided tour so all participants should be self sufficient as well as being part of the team. If you want to know more ask Sten, Angela, or Mike
  4. Not an official club trip. Trip co-ordinator; Sten Meet at Low wood bridge, Haverthwaite 9.30am A short notice peer paddle. Brian and I intend to paddle from Newby Bridge to Haverthwaite (portaging the big weir below Backbarrow). There will probably be lots of playing opportunities and an option to leave a car part way down if anybody comes who does not run Backbarrow and the river below. Message Sten if you decide you would like to join us 07835448621

Not an official club trip. Trip co-ordinator; Sten HW Barrow 11:13, 9.03m A trip for sea kayaks only. Circumnavigating Walney Island, making use of the tides to assist where possible. Meet at Roa Island IRB station (SD 233 647) at 09:30 to be on the water by 10:00. We will travel anti-clockwise around the island, using the tide to travel North up the channel, stopping for a brew and snack at North End Haws. There will options to stop at Earnse Point and if we make good progress we may stop again to so we are not hindered by the tide around the South End. With this in mind bring flasks / brew making equipment and lunch / snacks. We should get back to the cars around 16:00. Update 18:00 Friday winds are forecast as variable f2. Meet as planned. See you there.

A unofficial trip for Sea Kayaks on Coniston Water with an opportunity to practice deep water rescues. This trip will run from one of the free car parks on the East side of the lake. I will choose the precise location nearer the time, when I have an idea where people are travelling from and how many cars are involved. The start and prevailing weather will dictate where and how far we journey. If you want to participate in the rescue practice please dress accordingly, you will get wet. We will meet at 10:00 and be finished by 15:00. Bring a flask and lunch. Trip co-ordinator Sten Meet at Machell Copice car park SD 309952 updated 18:30 Saturday 21st Meet as Planned weather set to deteriorate

I Suggest meeting at canal foot Ulverston. This will avoid a long walk across the sand. To make up the distance we can extend the trip beyond Greenodd paddling up the Leven towards Low Wood.

  20. Weather permitting Angela and Sten are planning to circumnavigate Walney Island. Meeting Roa Island IRB Station (SD 233648) at 08:00 to be on the water for 08:30. We will paddle anti clockwise around the island running with the tide up Walney Channel. The journey down the West side will be against a slight tidal flow which will only slow progress slightly. We will have at least two good stops so bring plenty of food and drinks. Expect to get back to Roa Island around 17:00. Sten is co-coordinating the trip (07835 448621). Trip length 32km, HW Liverpool 09.50 8.4m. Early Days but wind is forecast to be variable f2/3. The trip is weather dependant I will update this post before 20:00 Saturday.
