We will decide on the day which direction, and how far to paddle based on the conditions and participants. A plan might be to take a tour around the South End of the Lake down to Allen Tarn and then a visit to Peel Island around 5km, we could do more. Dress up warm. Trip should be around 3 hours, bring lunch and hot drink. There may the option to visit a café after the trip. We should be able to do something but the trip may be cancelled if there is severe weather. Check here from 18:00 on Friday 30th for confirmation that the trip is running and any updates.     Saturday 17th 08:30 Due to the weather and expected road conditions around Brown Howe this trip is postponed to Saturday 31st December. Fingers crossed for better conditions. Trip going ahead as planned, meet at Brown Howe 10:00. Weather is not as nice as I hoped but looking ok. Wind f2-f3 South Westerly becoming more Southerly as the day goes on, temperature forecast to be around 2C with the possibility of a small amount of rain. Dress warm.     The wind looks favourable for a change. A paddle anticlockwise around the island. Starting and Finishing at Roa Island. There is the option to meet the trip at Jubilee Bridge around 09:45 and paddle around the North End to Finish at Earnse Bay. To do this you would need to arrange a shuttle. This trip is 30km long with tidal assistance for the majority of the way but we will be paddling against the last of the ebb around the South End of the island. Depending on the wind speed and direction there may be some slight over falls in Scarth Channel as we round North End Hawes The weather forecast is largely overcast with temperatures around 18 degrees C the wind is Force 2 from the south going to the west later in the day. If the weather becomes less favourable I may modify the plan one possibility would be an out and back staying within Walney Chanel. Tide height is 8.20m.     An evening social paddle on Coniston Water. All Abilities and all Craft welcome. Tow lines, contact tow systems, paddle floats etc, bring a pump if you have one. Getting wet is not mandatory, you can still come and learn through observation. Please dress warm. A dry suit is recommended. If you don't have a dry suit bring your normal paddling gear and if you want to have a practice do so just before we get off the water. Sea kayaks only. Setting off from Canal Foot, Ulverston on the front of the flooding tide and hitching a ride up the Estuary past Greenodd and into the lower reaches of the River Leven stopping for lunch on the river bank.     For assisted rescues I find the heel hook the quickest and easiest technique. Gordon Brown's video on You Tube is my go to reference. Yu can se the video here. Not essential viewing but it may be helpful.

    The Weather looks favourable for a change. So a last minute plan to paddle around Walney Island. A paddle anticlockwise around the island. Starting and Finishing at Earnse Bay. There is the option to Meet the trip at Roa Island Ferry Jetty at 12:30 and finish at Earnse Bay, or meet at us Jubilee Bridge around 13:30 and paddle around the North End to Finish at Earnse Bay. Setting off from Ravenglass beach on the flooding tide and hitching a ride up the River Esk stopping for lunch probably in the vicinity of Hinning House Bridge. I will confirm on Sunday by 18:00 but unless there is a significant change the trip will be cancelled.     Trip Cancelled Not having much luck with the weather. Another named storm with winds forecast to start at F5 - F7 building to F7 - F10 while we would be on the water. I will spend some of my storm bound time looking for another suitable tide with the hope of putting this trip back on in the future. Leven Estuary A paddle with the tide from Ulverston Up the Leven Estuary and lower reaches of the River Leven. A stop for a brew and bite to eat while we wait for the tide to turn then we will return to the start on the ebb. 1. Event co-ordinator Sten Sture 2. Trip Leader leader Sten Sture 3. The water will be moving all the way and there will be a fairly significant tidal race passing through the railway viaduct. This trip is weather dependant so if the forecast is unfavourable the extent of the trip or the venue may change possibly to a lake or the trip may be cancelled.     Event details Share Set Reminder Follow1 Monday 16:10 update, River Eamont from Pooley Bridge to Brougham Bridge. 11km grade I/II with a few weirs. The River is towards the lower end of low but I am hopeful that the level will hold and we will not have to scrape.
