Meet location / timings: meet at the gated end of Askam Pier at 10am with a view to being on the water by 10.45. The original intention had been to meet at the Duddon Road car park but after doing the trip as a recce last week, the channel currently runs right next to the south side of the pier, so there seems to be little point in long carries over the sand from Duddon Road if at all avoidable. A trolley is still a good idea because parking is limited at the head of the pier and we will need to park on the nearby estate roads (no parking restrictions but please park considerately!) and trolley the boats to the water. 8. Evening mid-wk paddlers - Julian, Rob, Derek, Maggie and Chris - I hope you are all set for the morning all ready for a leisurely start - 11am at brick lane parking area. However, the access road to brick lane, besides the sports centre is closed! SO From the Kendal direction: left at the main traffic lights - as normal 3rd left? off the main drag is MORCAMBE Rd Turn Right onto BRICK Lane somewhere towards the end of Morcambe Rd. carry onto the end of Brick Lane to find the dog walkers parking area. see you all in the morning - look forward to a swift morning paddle with the tide and the wind and a more challenging return against the wind, which is picking up, with a later return time than 2.45, due to tide differences! kind regards Mike Sunderland 0797 5946 312 if you need to chat about tomorrow
