Seaquest map, for information. We will probably go south in to the Esk, below Muncaster Castle, by Waberthwaite and then as far up the river past check point 21 at the A595 bridge, as the water allows. As the tide turns so will we. We will return back to Ravenglass and hopefully then have time to explore the Mite estuary.

I'm keen and will sign up once opened.

Hi Dave Yes, both please join us. If you want to camp at Kelburn Castle, please contact them to book. If they are full Richard and me will share a grass pitch, and you can have one of the two we've booked. They also have hard standing for campers. We're aiming to meet at the campsite at 12 noon. After pitching tents we'll pop across the road to Largs Marina and be on the water between 13.30 and 2pm. Ideally we'd then do Big Cumbrae - which is about 4 hours from Largs Marina with a couple of stops. Let me know how you get on with campsite. Lots of B& Bs in area too.
  13. until

Glad you can come along. Probably best if you book a pitch now, so any late comers can double up. Let's hope we get some calm weather like we did on Arran. Ray is bringing his caravan!

UP-DATE: Weather looking good, so arrangements as described below - on the south beach ready to go at 11am. La'al Ratty cafe is open at 10am if anyone wants a cuppa and a scone (or bacon buttie) before we unload. Message me if you have any questions. Look forward to our paddle. Annette Setting off from Ravenglass south beach on the flooding tide and hitching a ride up the River Irt until it is stationary or turns. We will return to Ravenglass on the ebb tide and then pop in to the Mite estuary. 1. Event co-ordinator Annette Morris 2. Trip Leader Annette Morris 3. Trip type: Sea/Estuary 4. Parking costs £5.50 for the day. http://streetmap.co.uk/map?X=308496&Y=496459&A=Y&Z=115. Aim to be on the beach ready to go for 11:00 8. No shuttle but we will have to move the cars to car park from beach (about 500 meters) 9. Anything else: RSVP is open. The aim is to have a sociable paddle with a picnic - don't forget your butties. Hopefully we'll see some of the remaining wintering birds. This trip will be about 4 hours with tidal assistance for most of the way. This trip is weather dependant so if the forecast is unfavourable (greater than 20mph gusts) the trip will be rescheduled to maybe Sunday 3rd or Monday 4th. I will post the decision on here the night before at latest On Saturday 2nd April: Sea kayaks / Touring Kayaks. Please read notes re trips here: https://lakelandcanoeclub.wordpress.com/trips/ I am happy to co-ordinate and lead the trip. However, as we will be a team, we are jointly responsible for each other’s safety on the water. Please ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip you are attending. RSVP asap please. A few places still available.
  18. Apologies I've organised this back to front, starting with the WhatsApp message as a heads-up. We have a full team, so the trip is full. I will organise more, knowing that a winter trip on Arran is so popular (despite unreliable ferries and weather!). Team is Tom, Kate, Ray, Simon, Rob and me. Please can just Tom, Simon, Rob, Ray and me RSVP when RSVP is open.
  19. TRIP IS FULLY BOOKED Isle of Arran (13th to 17th March 2022) Smugglers Den near Corrie, my holiday house, will be our base. Weather may be inclement so I can’t guarantee paddles every day, but can guarantee superb coastal scenery and comfortable accommodation and views of otters. Unless extreme weather, there is usually a sheltered spot some where on the island for a short paddle. Bring your walking boots in case too windy to paddle. The aim is to have safe paddles in beautiful scenery and observe the amazing wild-life Arran has to offer. Probably about 4 hours paddling a day or less if a windy day; options for longer paddles if weather is calm. The likely paddles will be Smugglers Den to Brodick Bay (with fantastic views up to the castle and Goat fell), around Lamlash Bay and maybe over to Holy Isle, and Lochranza to Sannox. Launching from Smugglers Den is possible at high tide, which is each morning we are there. Suggest £12.50 a night per person (£50 for the trip) to cover the house-keeping costs and in addition we share cooking costs and duties (Co-op is only 4 miles away - so easy). And there is a chip shop and pub! 1. Event co-ordinator Annette Morris 2. Trip Leader: Annette Morris, Trip co-leader: Rob Hitchmough 3. Trip type: Coastal sea kayaking 4. Level of ability : Intermediate 5. Date: Sunday 13th March to Thursday 17th March (4 nights) 6. Venue : Isle of Arran, Ayrshire, Scotland 7. Meet location / time : Sunday afternoon or evening at Smugglers Den holiday house. Location shown on website: http://www.smugglersden.info/ 8. Travel: 2.5 hours from Carlisle to Ardrossan ferry. Return fare £32 for a car and £8 per person - suggest 12.30, 15.20 or 18.00 (12.30 if you want a short paddle Sunday afternoon). Return Thursday 17th 8.20, 11.05, 13.50 or 16.40. Option to arrive a day earlier and stay a day later to make best use of weather. 9. Sea kayaks only Please read notes re trips here: https://lakelandcanoeclub.wordpress.com/trips/ I am happy to co-ordinate and lead the trip. However, as we will be a team, we are jointly responsible for each other’s safety on the water. Please ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip you are attending. TRIP FULLY BOOKED
