    1. Trip type:  Advanced water / tide race surfing - day sessions
    2. Level of ability : Advanced
    3. Date: Paddling Sun 21st - Tues 23rd April 2024
    4. Venue: Campsite to be confirmed. Likely Anglesey Outdoors (availability to be confirmed)
    5. Meet location / time : Meet either at the campsite or at put-in which will be confirmed/discussed by WhatsApp
    6. Meet to share lifts at: Arrange by Whatsapp
    7. Anything else:
The intention is to seek out some 'fun' water for surfing sea kayaks where possibe. Primary targets are the classic tide races of Anglesey: Penrhyn Mawr, North Stack, The Swellies etc. Or other exposed headlands with suitable eddies & escape routes for the conditions. A to B type coastal trips may on the cards if wind & swell conditions are not suitable for focussing on areas of concentrated tidal flow.
    Things to be aware of:
We will likely be working in tidal flows of over 6 knots in areas that produce standing waves & associated turbulence. We may actively seek out the steeper waves associated with wind aginst tide conditions (within reason). In other words, 'whitewater sea kayaing'.
We will be taking a heavily team focussed aproach & our ambitions will be tweaked based on our cohesion as a team on the water. There will be designated leaders, however it is expected that participants will be competent boat handlers with rescue skills apropriate to the environment and the expereince to make decisions on the water. A 'normally' reliable rough water roll is pre-requisite (accepting that 'misses' do happen to all of us occasionally).
We will discuss each day's plans as a team to agree on the anticipated conditions, escape routes, and contingency action plans.
Please also refer to LCC’s guidance on trip suitability & kit.
If we've not paddled together before, or if you’re not sure if this is for you, please give me a call on 07730411538 for a chat. I'm happy to encourage people to 'step up', but for safety I need to consider whether or not the whole group is in a position offer the support required, which will require discussion ahead of time and can't be guarenteed.
Please read notes re trips here:
    https://lakelandcanoeclub.wordpress.com/trips/
I am happy to co-ordinate and lead the trip. However, as we will be a team, we are jointly responsible for each other’s safety on the water.
Please ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip.
RSVP at least 2 days before the event
