Sorry, not able to paddle currently. Own fault; possible broken/damaged wrist after falling off grandaugter's hoverboard. Rachel

  5. Hi Mike, can't make morning but Martin and I could do afternoon if anyone else is interested. It's always good to practice water rescues with less pressure. Thanks Rachel
  6. From 2nd December. The rule of 6 will once again apply to meeting outdoors - for recreational paddling with friends and family, and for groups of coaching and leader ratios of 1:5. Fri 11/12 5pm: Hopefully a little more dampness overnight; so decision in the morning. I aim to send a What'sApp about 8.15am. Sat 12/12 8.15am. Disappointing little rain overnight. Not quite enough water in a lot of things. Lune on low side but paddleale. Suggest meet 10.15am at Killington. Be Covid Aware Co-ordinator Rachel Powell 1. Peer River Trip 2. Intermediate: aiming for Grade 3, but might be 2/3 or 3(4) depending on conditions and peoples inclinations 3. Saturday 12th December 4. Venue to decide nearer the time - dependent on water levels etc. 5. No lift sharing to get to trip. Running shuttles with mitigation, so please bring your own face covering or organise your own shuttle. 6. Trips may be cancelled or rearranged at short notice depending upon weather, and the preferences of those paddling. 7. To avoid a wasted journey, please ensure the trip coordinator knows you plan to attend, and has your mobile number. 8. Coordinator Rachel Powell (Rachel T). I am very happy to co-ordinate this trip, choose a river, set up put ins and take outs, but I will not be the leader. It is very likely that there will be other very competent paddlers on trip, many have more experience than myself. Just to emphasise this is not a "formal LCC trip". This is a group of mates heading out for a paddle and some fun. If you want to join us you are most welcome. Please read notes re river trips here: https://lakelandcanoeclub.wordpress.com/trips/ Please make sure you've read the club's (and British Canoeing) guidance regarding kayaking and Covid-19.

  9. Trip replacing Mike H's trip. Not the Irthing as it probably wont be up. I've yet to come up with a plan but I'll put my thinking cap on! Despite some high rivers today (Friday) I'm guessing most things will have dropped significantly tomorrow if the forecasts of light, if any, rain are correct. Therefore I propose to paddle the Lower Rawthey probably. We would meet at the put-in (Sedbergh New Bridge large layby, on A684 the road to Hawes). Meet at 10.00am. I will post in the morning by 8.15am to confirm or alter as appropriate. Saturday morning: more rain than I thought overnight in catchment. I'm guessing the 1.77m at 04.30 is a peak reading, but who knows?? Meet as above but we might do the main section of the Rawthey if it's not too high and people wish to. 1.Peer River Trip 2.Intermediate/Advanced 3. Saturday 1st February 4. Venue to decide nearer the time - dependent on water levels etc. Check water levels the night before. 5. Trips may be cancelled or rearranged at short notice depending upon weather, and the preferences of those paddling. 6. 10. Sat morning: Dryish overnight, levels currently too low for any becks. Some rain due this morning but not continuous (in forecast). Suggest Keswick Greta as just below my min level currently. Meet 9.20am on lay-by on A591 just north of Kendal (Plumgarth's roundabout) at 54.352278, -2.780117. Lay-by is on wrong side of road, outside a farm, opposite a blue P sign (advertising parking half a mile further on!), just beyond right turn to "Burneside 1, Carus Green Golf Course". Windy today so drive carefully. Suggest Barrow people meet at Threlkeld put in at 10.15. Fri Eve: Tomorrow's rain now seems to be forecast to start a bit earlier. I think they are forecasting rain from first thing but intensifying around noon. Quantity forecasts are often not very reliable. I don't want to get caught on something too high and rising (as none of us would). I still hope to get out, but can't make any promises tonight. I have a few smaller rivers vaguely as ideas if they look possible. As below; final decision Saturday morning by 8.15am. Thu Eve: Hope still to hold event (weather permitting). Band of rain due Friday lunch for a couple of hours should push something up to a nice level. Saturday's rain has various timings forecast. It might be prudent to see if we can get off the river before it rises (say 2 hours after start of heavy rain???). More accurate forecast nearer the time. Final decision will be Saturday morning by 8.15am. 1.Peer River Trip 2.Intermediate/Advanced 3. Saturday 15th February 4.
