  1. Hi Sally & Natalie, we are also going to an event on Sunday afternoon. I think that we should perhaps make this a bank litter pick. The river is such a short section, it’s hardly worth getting all geared up to paddle. A walk along the bank will avoid shuttles and getting boats on and off.

    Dave, fine to bring your Seakayak, bring it to the side door into the pool to the right of the main entrance. 8.15 and others will help you take it in. Nice and clean!!

  4. Trip cancelled due to adverse Windy and Wet weather. Will rearrange in January sunshine. Forecast not looking good for Wednesday. Rain and wind up to Force 8. A decision will be made Tuesday morning to cancel or postpone. A winter canal paddle from Bolton le Sands to the Waterwitch pub in Lancaster and return. 7 miles each way. Improvers+. Wednesday 20th December 6. Venue. Lancaster canal 7. Meet 9.30am. Large lay-by at canal side 1 mile south of Carnforth on the A6. 8. Anything else; It could be a very cold day so bring warm gear just in case. Flask and refreshment but we may have lunch at the Waterwitch pub. Two hour paddle to centre of Lancaster for lunch then return to cars by 3pm. 9. Good to share lifts if possible.   5. This event is postponed until Sunday 10th December. River Rothay is empty at the moment with no rain forecast. sign on for the 10th if you are interested. Organised by: John Speakman Trip Leader: Simon Lerpiniere. 1) Grasmere, Rydal Water, Windermere, Rothay & Brathay rivers. 2) Rothay from Grasmere via Rydal to end on Windermere. Grade 2 with one grade 3 upstream of Pelter Bridge. 3) Ability; Improver+ 4) Date: Sunday 3rd December 5) Meet 9.30 at Waterhead carpark Ambleside. (need to pay!!) 6) Arrange lifts, shuttle to Grasmere central carpark to launch. 7) Should be enough water but may be a bit scrapey in places, possible overhanging tree problem. 😎 Exit on Windermere at Waterhead. 8)Please read notes on club website re paddler abilities. https://lakelandcanoeclub.wordpress.com/levels-of-experience/ 9) It could be very cold, so dress warm and bring hot drink & food. 10) Trip will be led by club approved leader and we will be jointly responsible for each other’s safety.   6. Weather looks good for tomorrow but will be COLD. 9.30am meeting at the large Fellfoot carpark nearest to the exit. Trolley down to lakeside. we can share trolleys if you don’t have one. A circuit of the southern half of Windermere. From Fell Foot National Trust carpark. North along the east side of the lake as far as the Boat Museum for lunch break and coffee. Return along the west side of the lake to Fell Foot. 12km each way. Back at car park by 3.30pm. Or lunch at the cafe at W. ferry stop if conditions are not great.. parking free for NT members, so car share with a member. Carry spare clothing in boat if not wearing a dry suit. 11. Weather conditions may affect level of paddler’s acceptable on the trip.   8. As part of the Kendal Mountain Festival there is a river clean-up on a section of the Kent from the new Gooseholm Bridge to Kirkbie Kendal School. All are welcome to paddle or walk the bank collecting rubbish on the bank and in the river. Drop your boat, river or canoe, at the bridge then park at the school carpark. Safety briefing at 11.00am. If paddling, please wear a helmet. Further details will be added when available. This is a joint venture between: Save our Rivers; Trash Free Trails; Plas Y Brenin; CRKC; Palm, Pyranha.

  23. Condition’s not good for a moonlight paddle but will go ahead unless things change during the day. Meet 7pm while still some daylight. Moderate breeze from the south, possibly rain. A night paddle on Windermere under the full moon. From Rayrigg carpark on the Rayrigg Road. Meet at 7.30pmon the lake for 8.00pm Two hours to explore south past the lights of Bowness to Storrs Hotel and back via the Windermere archipelago. 1. Event co-ordination: John Speakman 2.
