The signing on process is as follows ...

RSVP on the calendar in the usual way; you'll need to sign up for both Tuesday evenings since the calendar may not link the two events as one.

When your name appears on the RSVP list and you have paid LCC, send your email address to me at andymtw@icloud.com and I'll send out additional information (en-bloc) towards the middle of January 2024. I'll set up a WhatsApp group around the 10th of January 2024.

Outline general format for the 2 sessions as follows…

deck-top navigation equipment and mindset,

direction and terminology: bearing, course over ground, track, course to steer, drift, heading,

scales: nM, km, M, distance and speed,

charts vs. maps,

position fixing and transits,

tides and tidal streams,

simple pilotage

passage planning,

linear trips inshore

<5km crossings

Some items will be required for this course: Silva type mountaineering compass, hard copy 2024 tide tables for Dover, Liverpool, Greenock, Oban and Ullapool, (https://www.tidetimes.org.uk/dover-tide-times) , OS Map number 62, pencil and ruler.

More information to follow by email / WhatsApp in mid-Jan.

No tests, exams or certification - just for fun.

Everyone has to start somewhere - go for it.

I'm now putting the preliminary information together for this course and won't send it out until everyone that has signed up has paid their £10 to LCC: still a few to go.

As you can see there's now a waiting list: please delete your icon/place if you're no longer interested so as to free up places for Andrew and Rachel.

Once you have paid send your email address to me at andymtw@icloud.com
