  1. Hard to predict rainfall this weekend - I guess there will be some - but how much? Where? It could be Advanced or Intermediate. The greater the amount of rainfall the greater the likelihood of it being an Advanced Trip Happy to co-ordinate any activity or alternatively decide on a lack of activity BrianC

Cancelled for now - accommodation postponed to probably some time in Sept Week long trip to the North of Scotland, staying in Lairg I've booked it with intermediate paddling and progression through the week in mind There are some top class rivers in the area that over the last few years we have got to know really well at diferent water levels Looking at accommodation the week is free from 22nd to 29th March. The letting runs from Sunday to Sunday and we usually go up via a river on Saturday, stay at a YHA/Bunk House and then on to Lairg via another river. We have a really nice place to stay, accommodates 6 at “Phil’s House”. The price for the week is about £869 – that is about £150.00 each. https://www.chooseacottage.co.uk/5ST/lairg-estate-phils-house-suur Aimed at people who want to expand their horizons Brian and Mike will be leading this trip The letting runs from Sunday to Sunday and we usually go up via a river on Saturday, stay at a YHA/Bunk House and then on to Lairg via another river. We have a really nice place to stay, accommodates 6 at “Phil’s House” which is booked. If anybody likes the sound of this – contact Brian for a chat. Oh and the rivers are pretty good too !! We already have 4 people booked

  4. I have chosen the Middle Lune for tomorrow meet at Crooklands at 09:30 http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=353888&y=482547&z=115&sv=353888,482547&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=547&ax=353888&ay=482547&lm=0 or Killington Bridge at 10:00 http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=362278&y=490805&z=115&sv=362278,490805&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=590&ax=362278&ay=490805&lm=0. Very much aware the river has been run a lot by the club recently - would consider any other suggestions Brian PEER TRIP 1. To decide nearer the time - dependent on water levels etc. 2. Sunday 3rd November 3. Meet 10.00 a.m. at a venue yet to be decided. 4. Check water levels / sort out lifts the night before. 5. Trips may be cancelled or rearranged at short notice depending upon weather, and the preferences of those paddling. 6. To avoid a wasted journey, please ensure the trip coordinator knows you plan to attend, and has your mobile number. 7. Coordinator Brain Clough. Dynamics: I am very happy to co-ordinate this trip, choose a river, set up put ins and take outs, liaise with people with people for lips, but I will not be the leader. I do have a 4 star leader badge, but the remits for 4 star are soon exceeded as the grade of the river rises and perhaps more importantly as the numbers of people rise. It is very likely that there will be other very competent paddlers on trip, many have more experience than myself. I really want to emphasize is that is not a "formal trip" there are plenty of commercial providers who can fulfill this role and in truth better than we can. This is a group of mates heading out for a paddle and some fun, a cup of coffee afterwards and if you want to join us you are most welcome and I would encourage you to do so. Suggested Level of Competence for this Trip: Intermediate Paddlers Please read notes re advanced river trips here: https://lakelandcanoeclub.wordpress.com/trips/ RSVP at least 2 days before the event Guests by arrangement with organiser, prior to trip only.
  5. could be a little later than 4:00pm more like 5:0pm. If a problem will just come and watch.

    Good stuff - Brilliant
  7. Thursday night 6 O'clock at Newby Bridge Put in Park and Play at the Brick Shoot and Mill Force - walk back up Possibly set up a shuttle with the option to go down to the Wood Yard - just past the Graveyard Rapid. An opportunity for some self assessed experimentation / learning
  8. It is very possible there well be some kayaking this weekend. If anybody wants to come along but does not have access to "What's App" - leave a message here I will keep them posted. In the circumstances I would suggest keeping it more casual, rather than suggesting a specific river and a making it a formal trip. Any trip would be with peers and no specific leader
  9. High tide 14:31 BST height of 8.3 @ Liverpool Gladstone Dock If it takes 4 hours to get from Earnse Bay to "The Meeting" propose setting off from the beach at Earnse at 10:30. Will stop for butties along the way. Peer Trip - everyone responsible for their own action but if you fancy it - reply below and come along. Guests welcome but if you could introduce yourself I would be very gratefull 20/06/2019 Suggest meeting Mazda Garage at 09:00 and we could share cars http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=347226&y=485445&z=120&sv=347226,485445&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=732&ax=347226&ay=485445&lm=0 Alternatively you can make our way to Earnse Bay - arrive around 10:00 http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=317059&y=470005&z=120&sv=317059,470005&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=732&ax=317059&ay=470005&lm=0 On the water for 10:30 Brian
  10. If you do go Saturday I would like to come along
  11. Lancaster Round Sunday 16th Trip cancelled
  12. Peer trip Walney Circumnavigation Forecast does not look good for Sea Kayaking on Saturday. Looks much more promising for river running. Cancelling trip around Walney. Let's go river running with Mike !! Brian

PEER TRIP Four day trip to Anglesey with the intention of circumnavigating the island. Starting at Port Dafarch, somebody has given me a list of possible wild camping sites that we may be able to find/use. Anglesey, as I am sure you know, sits at the mouth of Morecambe Bay and a lot of water swishes by as the tides come and go - a land of overfalls and tideraces. It will be an all in together trip - definitely equal peers - no leader. If interested lets have a good chat about it. Paddlers will require a flexible approach with an eye to adventure, when contemplating what will be a fantastic trip. RSVP at least 2 days before the event Guests by arrangement with organiser, prior to trip only. Sunday 23/06/2019 I have set up a whats app group so we can liaise Camping at the first night https://www.angleseyoutdoors.com/campsite-in-anglesey.html They do have a bar on the site that serves good value tasty food but suspect it closes at 9 O,clock so we might not make it. Large ASDA supermaket where we turn off the A5 - next to the McDonald's, can be used for last minute shopping Mike Powell is traveling on after the trip so will drive down independently. Suggest myself, John and Mike H to travel down in one car I have a four man tent and Mike P has a large tent as well We can sort out where to start and what time as we go along -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Getting to the North end of the Island is key to day one. A good flood tide will help us get to Cemlyn Bay or even a little further We could put in at Port Trecastell (Cable Bay), Rhoscolyn or Porth Dafarch. The further south we start the less we have to do against the tide (1-1 5 knots) on the last day. But we have to bear in mind we want to get to the North Coast by the end of day one – could be wind dependent?? If we hug Trearddur Bay and travel through the Penryhn Mawr (Thursday, 10:30) past South and North Stacks having a good look at the cliffs and then from North Stack head across Holyhead Bay to The Skerries, were we could pull out, or just paddle through the Skerries. If time is really pressing, avoid The Skerries and paddle through the Carmel Sound. Setting up the trip down the Menai Straits on day three is the key to day two. If we can get to Penmon Point by the end of day two, we can set off next day two hours before High Water (Sunday, 07:55) and down the Menai Straits. When we exit the Menai Straits we will have the tide against us, 1-1 5 knots, if it is too much, maybe we have the wind against, we can pull out, have a brew and let the ebb finish and the flood begin. Brian
  14. Saturday Morning Cancelling the trip. I maybe wrong but I think water levels are going to shoot up pretty dramatically today 1. Intermediate/Advanced 2. Saturday 16th March. 3. If we can get an idea of who wants to come along then I can choose a suitable river 4. Check water levels / sort out lifts the night before. 5. Trips may be cancelled or rearranged at short notice depending upon weather, and the preferences of those paddling. 6. To avoid a wasted journey, please ensure the trip co-ordinator knows you plan to attend, and has your mobile number. 7. Co-ordinator Brain Clough.
