Hi in 2018 we are intending to organise a lakequest- canoe/ kayak score orienteering event. to do this we need to have an accurate map of the lake( 1:25000 OS) with possible check point features identified. We would like to note the position of features on which we might place check points. LCC will provide a map, we intend to divide this into sections and add obvious features of check point locations. We need as many as possible to help. If the weather is good will have a camping style picnic after wards. You can bring any type of boats, do this as a pair or solo.   17. Introduction to river Skills 1 Learn basic river running skills and techniques, what to look for. Aimed at anyone who : -can paddle rivers but wants to refresh / improve basic skills -learn basic skills. As a minimum you must be a competent flat water paddler and be a happy swimmer in event of capsize. You must have your own kit including helmet 1. Grade 1river section - River Lune, Kirkby Lonsdale to Hornby. 2. Saturday 1st October 3. Starting from starting at Devils bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale. 4. Meet 9.00a.m. West side of the bridge 5 Trip leader Mike Hayward 6.   20. Social paddle - Morecambe Bay / Kent Estuary 2. Sunday 16th October 3. Starting from Arnside promenade 4. Meet 8.00 a.m. ready to be on water by 8.15 a.m. Estimated trip duration 3.5 hours on the water. 5. Trip leader: Mike Hayward 6. Any special notes: Tidal height is 10.04m with HW at 11.58 All types of closed cockpit kayaks welcome. We will paddle out into Morecambe bay, ( downstream) then be brought back by incoming tide ( downstream) bore wave is expected. Depending on channel depths you may need to drag your boats for a short distance if channel are shallow. We will paddle out into the bay and meet the bore wave. Very good chance of getting a surfable wave. We will finish back at Arnside at 11.00 approximately. Those intending to ride the bore wave wave should be confident in their roll. Otherwise be prepared to sit behind the wave and follow it in. Not suitable for novices. If conditions are suiatble we may continue up the Estuary which will mean a later finish. Meet Devils Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale at 10.00 a.m. to share transport to the put in. 5. Trip leader: Mike Hayward 6. Any special notes: Low water everywhere, no rain to fall. So we need to go some where with water. Tempertaure forecast 6oC Please bring lunch and a hot drink.
