  1. Slalom, park and play This event is open to all who paddle rivers. It will be an opportunity to learn Slalom skills. Coaching available Exact session will be dependent upon need of those attending. 1. Event co-ordinator Mark Webster 2. Trip Leader leader Mark Webster 3. Trip type: Slalom 4. Level of ability. Improver and above 5. Date: Sunday 18th August 11:00 - 2:00 6. Venue : Leven Slalom poles underneath A590 bridge by Haverthaite, and Primary School 7. Meet location / time : 11:00 at the lay-by 8. Meet to share lifts at: not needed 9. Anything else: Get together for people interested in Slalom. Please read notes re trips here: https://lakelandcanoeclub.wordpress.com/trips/ I am happy to co-ordinate and lead the trip. However, as we will be a team, we are jointly responsible for each other’s safety on the water. Roy Garriok has offered to provide us with an introduction to Slalom on the Leven where the slalom gates are. Meet up in the lay-by adjacent to the bridge next to Haverthwaite, where the Leven Valley C of E Primary school is located. We will carry the boats down to the river for a park and play style session with him, although I will be responsible for on water safety etc. This is the first time of doing this so not sure what to expect, but no specialist equipment is needed and the water is flat in effect, without gradient, so it is a chance to learn about the basics. Depending on who turns up and the level of interest we will plan forwards from this session for future activities. I will set up a WhatsApp group nearer the weekend in case there are any questions. It is my first time at slalom, and just wanting to develop my interest at this point. It is white water kayaks only.
