CANCELLED DUE TO COVID! An alternative, 2 hour session to cater for those who struggle to get to the Kendal pool fest. All members welcome of course. 1. Event co-ordinator & Leader - Pete Riley 2. Date: Weds 16th March 1900 to 2100 5. Venue & Meet & Lift Sharing Locations: Wharfedale Community Pool 6. Anything else: Kayaks must be cleaned thoroughly. WW boats take airbags out and rinse thoroughly. Yes, it's a pain, but I'd lke to be invited back! No outdoor shoes in the pool. Can bring a sea kayak if you wish. RSVP 6. It isn't a full size pool - it's nice to have space to operate. I'll set up a WhatApp group later. In the meantime, questions here or PM me. Pete

The idea is to cross the Aire Valley Flood Plain around Skipton, without using the River Aire. Unknown challenges mean some degree of WW kayak control required. 1. Event co-ordinator & Leader - Pete Riley 2. Trip type: River grade 2 3. Level of ability: Competent grade 2 or better 4. Date: Sun Feb 20th 5. Venue & Meet & Lift Sharing Locations: TBC - A59 / junction of River Aire 6. Anything else: I am happy to co-ordinate and lead the trip. However, as we will be a team, we are jointly responsible for each other’s safety on the water. WW kayaks only. Please read notes re river trips here: Whitewater Safety , which gives useful information on: Important Kit, River Signals, Whitewater Safety Skills Helmets Ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip and be familiar with the accepted river signals.
  5. I'll let you know if anyone drops out Tom.
  6. 😃 If the promised rain arrives on Saturday night I plan to visit a lesser paddled river in the Pennines – aiming for the eastern end of Wensleydale. Whilst I’m looking at potentially gd. 2/3 these kind of spate rivers require sharp paddling skills at the grade. Plenty of unknowns, including fallen trees, demand the ability to run long, continuous sections often without inspection. You must be able to hit small eddies and play a strong part within the small team. 1. Event co-ordinator & Leader - Pete Riley 2. Trip type: River grade 2 /3 3. Level of ability: Competent grade 3 - see above. 4. Date: Sun 6th Feb. 5. Venue & Meet & Lift Sharing Locations: TBC - depends on water & group (to be determined 0800hrs at the latest on the day of paddling). 6. Anything else: I am happy to co-ordinate and lead the trip. However, as we will be a team, we are jointly responsible for each other’s safety on the water. WW kayaks only. RSVP limit of 4 Please read notes re river trips here: Whitewater Safety , which gives useful information on: Important Kit, River Signals, Whitewater Safety Skills Helmets Ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip and be familiar with the accepted river signals.
  7. CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF WATER AND LACK OF INTEREST! The idea will be to have some fun! If I haven't paddled with you before I will contact you personally so we can find the best river 'fit' for the team. I will set up the customary WhatsApp group before the day. 1. Event co-ordinator & Leader - Pete Riley 2. Trip type: River grade 3 (if there's 4, it will be easily portagable). 3. Level of ability: Competent grade 3 or better. 4. Date: Tues Mar 22nd. RSVP 6, unless another river leader joins trip. RSVP will be available from 12th March. Please read notes re river trips here: Whitewater Safety , which gives useful information on: Important Kit, River Signals, Whitewater Safety Skills Helmets Ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip and be familiar with the accepted river signals.
  8. The idea will be to have some safe fun! If I haven't paddled with you before I will contact you personally so we can find the best river 'fit' for the team. An opportunity perhaps to learn / consolidate skills and perhaps do some leadership shadowing if you wish. I'm happy for more experienced paddlers to come along, but please give Improver / Intermediates the opportunity to RSVP first. We will set up the customary WhatsApp group before the day. 1. Event co-ordinator & Leader - Pete Riley 2. Trip type: River grade 2 (3) 3. Level of ability: Competent grade 2 or better 4. Date: Mon Feb 21st 5. Suitable for competent grade 3 paddlers or better. RSVP 6, unless another river leader joins trip. RSVP will be available from 11th Feb. Please read notes re river trips here: Whitewater Safety , which gives useful information on: Important Kit, River Signals, Whitewater Safety Skills Helmets Ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip and be familiar with the accepted river signals as above.

Upper Wharfedale School Swimming Pool - Threshfield Pool session from 1830 to 2030 Monday 8th November. This is in addition to the normal weekly Kendal session and might appeal to those who live further afield. Also the benefit of a 2 hour stint. It costs £45 per hour so I will just divide up the £90 between the attendees. Can sort out payment on the night. The plan is as follows: I’ve limited the RSVP because I’m not sure of the practical working size of the pool. It’s 20m x 8m. After this first session I will have a better idea. Changing areas and showers available. Please reserve your spot via our Calendar You’ll need to bring your own boat (s) I have extracted some of the terms and conditions below: No dogs No smoking or alcohol Drink and food not permitted No outdoor footwear in the pool area Leave facilities in ‘satisfactory condition’ No under 18’s without appropriate safeguarding arrangements 1st aid equipment is available on site
