3. Trip type:                        Sea kayak - estuary

4. Level of ability :             Improver or better

5. Date:                              Friday 17th November 2023

6. Venue :                         Ravenglass lagoon and estuaries

7. Meet location / time : meet at Ravenglass south beach at 10.45am  (drive through the village down slip onto the beach) to unload. http://streetmap.co.uk/map?X=308420&Y=496180&A=Y&Z=115

Return the cars to the pay and display carpark (as they may get flooded if left on beach). Parking costs £5.50 for the day.  http://streetmap.co.uk/map?X=308496&Y=496459&A=Y&Z=115.

Aim to be on the beach ready to go for 11:30

8. No shuttle but we will have to move the cars to car park from beach (about 500 meters)

9. Anything else:

We will have a sociable paddle with a picnic - don't forget your butties. We should see some wintering birds. I’ll bring some Ravenglass Seaquest maps for information.  We will select the estuaries to go up depending on wind direction.  Currently thinking of both the Irt and Mite. We will have the opportunity to practice some ferry gliding in moving water.

This trip will be about 4 hours with tidal assistance for most of the way.

This trip is weather dependant so if the forecast is unfavourable (greater than 20mph gusts)  the trip  may be rescheduled. I will post the decision on here the night before at latest.

On Friday 17th November:
Tide height at Tarn Point is 7.7 meters at 13.26
Aim to be on the water at 11:30 (about 2 hours before high tide)
We will arrive back at Ravenglass before 15:30 (little water and lots of mud 2 hours after high tide)
Sea kayaks / Touring Kayaks.

We are am happy to co-ordinate and lead the trip. However, as we will be a team, we are jointly responsible for each other’s safety on the water.
Please ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip you are attending.

We are happy to co-ordinate and lead the trip for 10 paddlers and more if I have another leader. However, as we will be a team, we are jointly responsible for one another’s safety on the water.

Please ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip – plenty of food and drink to share.
