I can make 12 and 19
-
Date changed at request of participants!
-
Mark Hickman will be coaching this trip.
-
Sadly cancelled due to travel problems round Shap.
-
Meet at the Swan Hotel, Newby Bridge, at 10:30 to run the Leven.
-
We will meet at Kendal RUFC at 10am and run a section (or sections) of the Kent and Mint.
Mark H, Mike H and Dave G will be leading the trip.
Any problems, please contact me on 0785 0202405 or use WhatsApp.
-
Event now changed to a single trip, and RSVP limit lifted.
Apologies for any confusion caused.
-
This section of the Kent is mainly Grade 2, with a few short, sharp sections of Grade 4, which can all be portaged.
-
Water levels OK, so plan to meet at the small car park behind Burneside Spar/convenience store at 12:30 today.
Shuttle up to Staveley, park at the car park above the Weir outside the village and decide where to put on.
-
Realistically, I won’t be free til 12:00 earliest, hence 13:00 start time.
Suggest we check water levels at breakfast time and make a plan then?
-
Please note the later than usual start time!
-
Sorry, this session is cancelled. Dave can’t make the later start/finish, and no other suitably qualified coaches are free.
We’ll re-arrange....
-
I’ve passed your request on to Dave Gray who is working in Scotland at present and might not be aware there is a match on Sat!
-
Meet at Killington Road Bridge at 10:00am.
We will probably paddle the Rawthey or Lune, depending upon river levels and preferences of the people who turn up.
-
Please note the second session has been re-arranged for Sat 2nd November.
-
Weather permitting it looks like we will be able to run this as planned. I will be leading the first session, with lots of support from Mike Hayward.
We will focus on bank-based rescue rather than boat-based rescue, BUT YOU WILL GET WET, so please come with all your WW gear EXCEPT the kayak.
Please also bring any safety or rescue equipment you possess and think is relevant, but don't buy anything else in advance.Location is very likely* to be the Lune at Devil's Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale - the normal exit for those running the Lune. (*If this changes, I'll confirm via this page or WhatsApp).
The main limitation is the shorter evenings, so please try and be on the bank ready to go by 5pm.Any questions, Phil Clayton - 0785 0202405

Mike, I won’t make the 14/15th, but hope to join you from Monday.
-
Unfortunately Mike Sunderland is double booked and can't lead this trip.
Given that we have 4 experienced paddlers signed up, this shouldn't make any practical difference
Please feel free to continue with this as a "peer-led" trip.
-
Anthony from Border Kayaks will attend this meet, and bring a selection of WW Boats for people to try.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we can estimate numbers.
-
Sadly cancelled due to dire weather forecast.
Mike hopes to reschedule....
-
This event has been delayed due to the grim weather forecast. We hope to reschedule when it gets a bit less Baltic!
-
Mike Sunderland will run a coached “Park and Play” at the Sands, Carlisle.
The plan is to bring some demo boats from Border Kayaks so those considering a new boat can test some of the alternatives.
-
2 of us paddled the Lower Kent; grade 3/4 but at a low level.
-
The calendar function is a bit limited.so we have deleted the old trip record and replaced it with unique records for each trip.
Hopefully, (!), you should now be able to RSVP to only those trips you wish to run!
