Sea kayak skills

This is a park and play session which will focus on sea kayak skills for setting off and landing in surf ( assuming there is some). Setting off in surf, landing in surf.  Bongo sliding, edging etc. Rolling practice.

It will not be a free surf event but will take a structured approach to developing skills.

We will work  in pairs and watching out for each others safety.

Wheels might be useful to take your kayak down beach.

No helmet no paddle

  3. Trip type:  Any closed cockpit river or sea kayak
  4. Level of ability: improver or better but you need to be able to roll or be happy swimming with your boat in surf.
  5. Date Sunday 20th October
  6. Venue Earnse Bay, Walney 
  7. Meet location / time: Noon  at Earnse Bay.
  8. Meet to share lifts at: arrange your own
  9. Anything else 
  10. RSVP 6 unless second leader is happy to contribute.

The trip will be led by a BC qualified or an LCC approved leader, however we will paddle as a team taking joint responsibility for each other’s safety on the water.

Please ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip you are attending.

RSVP at least 2 days before the event

No guests.

Hi Mike, I don't roll yet, going to the pool on Monday to progress towards rolling, however I have capsized and swam in a surf some way out from the beach.

This is a skill I am keen to develop to build on the on the paddles I have done this year, both with Lakeland Canoe Club and Cumbria Canoeists
