    DAY

    25 October 2024      28 October 2024

DUE TO FORECAST STRONG WIND THIS TRIP HAS BEEN PUT BACK A WEEK TO 25-28 OCTOBER.
    Coordinator: John Soady
    Leader: John Soady
Trip type:  Sea kayak - 4 days, 3-night wild camping.
Level of ability:  Intermediate. Although there are minimal tidal challenges and open crossings, I have graded it intermediate because the trip will proceed up to the top of the intermediate remit (Beaufort 4, up to 17knots). Suitable for paddlers having the sea kayak award. If you regard yourself as an improver, and/or haven't experienced kayak-camping (aka expedition paddling) but reasonably confident in Bf4 conditions, contact me for a chat.
Dates: Friday 25th to Monday 28th October.
Venue: 1st night in Loch Striven (~5k), 2nd night in the Kyles of Bute (~15k), 3rd night in Loch Fyne (~27k), finish Otter Ferry (~15k) - or reverse direction if wind dictates.
Meet location/time: 1400 in the pull-in just north of Craigendive (///dabbled.confronts.slumped).
Lift sharing: I will set up a WhatsApp group for sorting trip arrangements.
    Additional information
Although within just a couple of hours of Glasgow, the Argyle Cowal peninsular offers a fabulous remote feel to a wild-camping journey. In windy conditions the lochs and Kyles, being flanked by mountain terrain, can concentrate the wind and present hard-going conditions in some sections; hence its intermediate grading.
Meet at Craigendive at the north end of Loch Striven, unload boats and shuttle cars to Otter Ferry (about an hour there & back).
To get there take a Gourock ferry to Dunoon (two routes: Calmac from Gourock or Western Ferries from McInroy's Point).
Please read LCC sea trip notes here.
I am happy to co-ordinate and lead the trip. However, as we will be a team, we are jointly responsible for each other’s safety on the water.
Please ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip. Ask for advice if you are unsure.
RSVP limit 6 unless another leader comes along.
RSVP at least 2 days before the event.
