Plan is to catch the ebb down the Esk estuary, merge with the Eden estuary meet the incoming flood tide at 11.03 and stay with it back to Metal bridge. It is high springtime so expect very fast water and large unpredictable waves maybe a bore on return. An often successful roll is required. Total distance around 20km. Hopefully back at Metal bridge by 13.30 HW at Metal bridge is 13.50 estimated. Sea kayaks only.   17. We will meet to discuss real and possible sea kayak incidents that a group may have to deal with. The focus will be on what role the leader may take, but all sea kayakers are welcome to attend. If you have been involved or heard of or an sea kayaking incident could you write it as succinctly as possible, anonymize individuals and email it to Mike Hayward by 23rd Feb. Anything else: We will meet at egress and then shuttle to ingress. If you are going directly to meet place rather than junction 37 please let me know beforehand. The trip is 16km and should take 4 hours, including a lunch break. It may be very cold so dress warm and bring a flask and lunch. If you intend to paddle an open boat solo or tandem can you post a message below. The event is subject to a suitable water level, else it will be cancelled or moved to a different river. You should have a basic idea of how to read moving water and break in and out and ferry glide. Expect rapids up to grade 2+. RSVP limit is 6 unless another leader joins.   24. Trip is confirmed This is a park and play session which will focus on sea kayak skills for setting off and landing in surf ( assuming there is some). Setting off in surf, landing in surf. Bongo sliding, edging etc. Rolling practice. It will not be a free surf event but will take a structured approach to developing skills. We will work in pairs and watching out for each others safety. Wheels might be useful to take your kayak down beach.
