Advanced White Water kayak trip to Fort William. This trip is planned around the dam release dates as published on the Scottish WW Guide Dam Release Calendar (bottom of page). If we've got decent rainfall, we'll be looking at the smaller tributaries and becks, otherwise we'll be on the dam release rivers. A possible plan is Upper Tummel Thursday (on way up), Lyon Friday (if nothing else running), Moriston Saturday, Middle Etive Sunday (on route home). 1. Event co-ordinator: Simon Lerpiniere (07811144461) 2. Trip Leader leader: Simon Lerpiniere (plus likely other leaders in attendance) 3. Trip type: River 4. Level of ability : Advanced 5. Date: 24/08/2023 until 27/08/2023 6. Venue: Fort William, Scotland. 7. Meet location / time: Travelling up to Fort William early Thursday morning. We'll certainly want to arrange lift shares, so probably a meet at J36 (M6). Full details closer to the time. 8. Meet to share lifts at: Arrange your own. 9. Restrictions: Unfortunately I'll have to limit this trip to those I've paddled with before, as we'll need a strong team that knows each other for these rivers. If you really want to come along, but haven't paddled with me before, please message me on WhatsApp before signing up. 10. Accommodation is at Lochside Hostel (https://lochsidehostel.com/) on Loch Ness. Total cost per person (for 3 nights) is £105. After paying, if you withdraw from the trip you'll need to find someone to go in your stead (I'll do my best to help). Please read notes re trips here: https://lakelandcanoeclub.wordpress.com/trips/ I am happy to co-ordinate and lead the trip. Update: Release confirmed for both days. Book your tickets! The National White Water centre doesn't provide water release information until a few days before the weekend unfortunately. Although, at this time of year, there is usually a release at the weekend. We'll need to keep an eye on the water information. Planning on a 2 day trip, both days on the Tryweryn. First day upper river which is a man made course, but natural feeling with some great features. 2nd day is the lower river, still filled by the dam release but a natural river heading towards Bala. Mainly grade 3 with one grade 4- which can be portaged (Bala mill falls). For Saturday, you need to book yourself a space on the national White water centre website here https://www.nationalwhitewatercentre.co.uk/. Go to book, then select paddler facility fee. Limited spaces available, so don't leave it until the last minute. It's £14 for the day. Accommodation would be camping, and I'm planning to book at https://www.tyisafbala.co.uk/. Just the one night (Saturday). You'll need to book yourself. Probably find a local pub for dinner on the Saturday. Trip Leader: Simon Lerpiniere / 07811144461 1. Trip type : Club Led 2. Level of ability : Intermediate. This is a grade 3 river, but a man made course. Some of the rapids are tricky, but nothing particularly scary. Lower river is grade 2(3) with one grade 4 (which can be portaged). 3. Date : 03/09/2022 until 04/09/2022 4. Venue : Tryweryn, The National White Water centre. 5. Meet location / time : Meeting at the Tryweryn National White Water centre café, Saturday 3rd at 10.30am. 6. Meet to share lifts at : Arrange own. 7. Weather : This is a dam release facility, so water won't be a problem. 8. Anything else : Shuttle for boats available, but you need to walk yourself back to the top. Likely we will carry up a few times too. On the Sunday we'll need to Shuttle from Bala. Please make sure you've read the club's (and British Canoeing) guidance regarding kayaking and Covid-19. Please read notes re river trips here: https://lakelandcanoeclub.wordpress.com/trips/ Please RSVP on the calendar by Tuesday 30th September [early] evening. WhatsApp group will be setup to organise with attendees.

  15. White Water (grade 2/3) river trip for improvers and intermediate paddlers. River will be chosen to suit attendees. Sorry WW kayaks only.
