Roa Island Walney Channel Mid-Week Sea Kayak trip * first of 2 repeating events*

Part of a Autumn / Winter series of trips led by Mike Sunderland to develop Sea Kayak skills in moving water.

  6. Venue: Roa Island Walney Channel  SD 234 650 Round trip approx 15km
  7. Meet location/time: Meet at the end of the road – in front of the lifeboat station to unload kayaks & gear.  Park at the free car park, by the entrance to the Roa Island Sailing Club – as courtesy to residents.  Briefing at 9am, changed and boats in place  in front of Lifeboat Station
  8. Take a picnic lunch and drink. See the trip What's App Group nearer the time for lift sharing & other details

The trip will be led by a BC-qualified or an LCC-approved river leader, however, we will paddle as a team taking joint responsibility for each other’s safety on the water.

Please ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip you are attending.

Further notes:

Leaders will be coaching moving water skills and this is not just a tour. Participants will be expected to join in the skills activities as we progress. Manoeuvres such as: Positive paddling upstream, Ferry gliding,  Bow rudder, Edging, Breaking out & Breaking into moving water and Bracing will be coached.
