River rescue skills

Event details

Aimed at all that paddle rivers.

We will take a look at more advanced techniques for:

1. Live bait rescues as rescuer and rescue

2. Freeing a pinned kayak

3. Righting an inverted unconscious paddle in kayak.

This does not mean you will have to be an advanced paddler.

You will require a kayak and all you river paddling kit, dry suit recommended, as some swimming will be required

If you have a throw line / river rescue kit bring it along.

4. Level of ability :  improver / intermediate / advanced 

5. Date: Friday 9th September

6. Venue : Lune, Devils Bridge Kirby Lonsdale, (West side by toilets)

7. Meet location / time : 0900

8. Meet to share lifts at: arrange you own to venue

9. Anything else: 

Bring lunch etc. Aim to be finished when all have practiced sufficiently.

I am happy to co-ordinate and lead the event. However, as we will be a team, we are jointly responsible for each other’s safety on the water.
