The aim of this practical work shop is to discuss with open boat leaders , and potential assistants the various practical rescue skill techniques that leaders may have in their tool box .
The session will follow the following format :
1. Setting up the boat for lake and river trips with rescue in mind.
2. Rescuing others from the lake or river .
3. Self rescue both lake and river .
4. rescue scenario's we may encounter ; towing a boat on a river , pinned open boat .
The nature of the event means that if will be wet ! so a dry suit would be required .
The session will be limited to 6 paddlers and each participant should bring emergency kit they normally use and a helmet
The session will follow a workshop style with participants happy to be involved in scenario based training and discussion.
