    DAY

    08 May 2023      12 May 2023

Arran again! Day paddles about 15km, which can be lengthened. Suitable for Improvers.
Smugglers Den near Corrie, will be our base for a few days. May should be nice weather, but be prepared for some walking just in case we can't paddle every day.
The aim is to have safe paddles in beautiful scenery and observe the amazing nature Arran has to offer.  Arran's wild life is wonderful - porpoises, dolphins, eagles, otters  gannets, basking sharks, red deer, gannets, etc.. Can't promise seeing all of the above, but we will see lots of geology.
    Possible paddles include:
    ·       1km crossing to Holy Isle to see Buddhist retreat, soay sheep, eriskay ponies, etc,
    ·       from Brodick to Fallen Rocks, returning to finish at Smugglers Den
.       tour of Brodick Bay, including paddle up the river and visit to Brodick Castle Harbour
.     from Kildonan to Whiting Bay by Dippen Head, and maybe around Pladda
    ·       Lochranza to Sannox alongside varied geological features
    ·       Brodick to Clauchlands point and beyond
.       Machrie to Blackwaterfoot past Kings Cave and basalt columns
We have 8 individual beds, 3 bathrooms, large kitchen, etc, for our comfort. Please be prepared to share a twin room or sleep on a bed settee. Please bring sheet sleeping bag and pillow case.
Come for all or part of trip. Non-paddling partners and Guests welcome.
Cost is £60 each to cover the house-keeping expenses, and in addition we share cooking costs and duties (Co-op is only 4 miles away - so easy). And there is a chip shop and pub nearby!

Event co-ordinator & leader – Pete Riley Trip type: Sea Level of ability: Intermediate / Advanced Date: Saturday 13th May to Saturday 20th May. Travelling up on the Saturday. Venue: Plan A – Cape Wrath. Initially due to go open boating in Sweden, the plan has changed radically! The broad plan is to travel to the far NW of Scotland and do predominantly day trips, but we might also do overnight stops so be prepared for 2 or 3 nights camping wild.
Plan A is to round Cape Wrath, which can be done in a day, however it lends itself to a longer trip. There are plenty more tasty options in the far north, which we will choose as weather conditions permit. Plan B will be to find an alternative weather system if the far North weather isn’t kind.
Whilst we will potentially be operating in ‘Advanced’ territory, we will only set sail if there is good assurance of calm, so this trip may suit confident ‘Intermediate’ paddlers. As always, we will paddle as a team, taking joint responsibility for each other’s safety on the water.
If you are in doubt about your suitability, please give me a call.
