    26 April 2023 05:00 PM      08:00 PM

Event co-ordinator: Sally Soady (LCC team only!) Trip leader(s): N/A - organised by West Cumbria Canoe Club Trip type: flat water / social Level of ability: Beginner / improver Date: 26th April Venue: Derwentwater Marina, CA12 5RF Meet location / time: Meet to share lifts at: would be good to share lifts, esp as no boats involved.  Anything else  Notes taken from West Cumbria Canoe Club website
Tiger Boats are like Dragon Boats but are slightly more stable. They take a crew of 10 paddlers (more or less) plus a helm and a drummer. Derwentwater Marina is kindly loaning us their two boats and we will be running a series of short sprint races to find the top winning crew. The Marina is also kindly donating a Tiger Boat Trophy.

Each crew has two races head to head against other crews and then the fastest two crews race in the final. These races happen in quick succession and we aim to finish for prize giving at 8.00.p.m.

Please bring warm clothes, full waterproofs, buoyancy aid and a warm hat. A capsize is very unlikely but please bring a change of clothes just in case - also some cash for the BBQ that happens at the same time as the races. We will provide paddles (leave these in the boat).

Races start from 6.30 pm. as people arrive and as soon as teams say they are ready. Each crew races twice and then the fastest take part in the final. These races happen in quick succession and we aim to have the tiger boats ashore and the prize giving by 8 pm, so that those from the
more distant clubs can drive home and we can head down the pub and celebrate!
    Refreshments
Rain or shine, we will have a BBQ running at the same time as the races with quality food and hot / cold drinks provided at very reasonable prices - a choice of Thomason's steak, sausage, or veggie sausage all in a bap.

We hope the evening is going to be warm and tropical - but if not, we will have some cover from gazebos.
RSVP at least 2 days before the event
Guests by arrangement with organiser, prior to trip only.
