Humm… Forecast windy again tomorrow, I’m thinking if in a river kayak the paddle back will be arduous and not too enjoyable. sea kayakers will fair better, I guess.
is a sea kayaker willing to take over the leadership of the trip? Suggest we go take a look.
Wind forecast: Needs to be light winds (assume sea kayaks can cope with windier conditions)
Arnside Borewave: it was a particularly good one sometime ago! so hoping for a repeat

8. Meet to share lifts at: none needed
9. Anything else: It’s tricky for first timers as a very powerful wave over shallow water, therefore it’s easy to get tripped up
Tide height is 9.64 (Ramsden Dock )so there should be a good bore wave.
HW is at 12.24 so aim to be on the water at Arnside at 08.55
Should be back in Arnside by 11.30
River or sea kayaks.
If intending to ride borewave must have a solid first time roll.
You can join us and just follow the bore wave if you don't wish to surf on it
Not suitable for novices.

I am happy to co-ordinate and lead the trip. However, as we will be a team, we are jointly responsible for each other’s safety on the water.
Please ensure you carry the correct kit for the trip you are attending.

Outdoor rolling practice (moving water) (One-off session)
White-water kayaks only
Brief:
Do you have a pool roll but:
· Never tried using it outdoors?
· Tried and failed to roll on the river?
· Have a roll that is less reliable than you’d like on simple moving water?
Rolling is a useful and, ideally, fun part of river running. The idea of these sessions is to take a pool roll into a supportive outdoor environment without the pressure of being on a trip. We’ll have rescue (and moral) support from experienced paddlers, and we’ll be supporting each other in rescues too, so that you can feel safe and confident to experiment with your roll.
Please be aware, this is not a ‘coached’ rolling session: the experienced paddlers may be able to offer tips and advice as suits the situation but you will need to know how to attempt a roll (it doesn’t have to be completely reliable) in order to attend. These sessions are intended to develop the experience of being outside and what it’s like trying to roll in moving water. We’ll all be learning together, so bring your sense of humour and willingness to have a go!
Event coordinator: Alex Davies
Trip leaders: Pete Riley
Trip type: Park and Play rolling practice
Level of Ability: Improver/Intermediate
Venue: TBC dependent on conditions: possibilities include Devils Bridge or Killington Bridge (Lune), or below Backbarrow Bridge (Leven). Will be confirmed here and via WhatsApp the night before.
Time: 6.30pm to 8pm
Safety: Helmets are essential!
*If you have a reasonable outdoor roll, but would like it to be bombproof, Simon Leperinere will be running a subsequent session on developing a bombproof roll. Please consider your abilities and only take a space on these sessions if they are appropriate for your level.
Please feel free to contact me on WhatsApp if you have any questions (07834 511909).
