Cheers, Matt. ———————————— The River Washburn (Grade III) in Yorkshire is scheduled to release over the weekend of 15/16th June, I shall be paddling on one of these days. Which day will depend on if there is any other interest and how much water is being released, as one of the days will probably be a full release which is better for paddling. Description below: https://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/rivers/england/north-east/river-washburn I will confirm details once the release is confirmed, which is usually the Wednesday before. Contact - Matt Butel RSVP at least 2 days before the event Guests by arrangement with organiser, prior to trip only.
  14. Evening Brian, I have now declined as I am struggling with my back and given low water it doesn’t seem worth taking the morning off work. Sorry for the short notice. Matt.
  15. Peer trip. Title: Advanced Whitewater River Trip - Grade III/IV any requests? Date: Saturday 10th Nov. Location: TBC - depends on water levels. Meet Time: 9.30rain Fri evening see levels sat a.m. chat on what's app
  16. Trip cancelled due to low water levels and lack of paddler availability. Let’s hope for more water next week! Not Official LCC Event **** trip moved back a week to 27th as I’m no longer available on 20th **** Title: Intermediate Whitewater River Trip - Grade II/III Date: Saturday 27th October Location: TBC - but hopefully something a bit different, perhaps River Wharfe - Grassington to Barden Bridge if there is water about. Meet Time: TBC - depends on location Contact: Matt Butel - 07494416803 - m.t.butel@icloud.com Will confirm details (location and meet time) by 19:00 day before trip then we can arrange lifts as required.
  17. Not Official LCC Event Title: Intermediate Whitewater River Trip - Grade II/III Date: Sunday 7th October (moved from previous day as I’m not available Saturday) Location: TBC - depends on water levels, but thinking something local Meet Time: TBC - depends on location Contact: Matt Butel - 07494416803 - m.t.butel@icloud.com Will confirm details (location and meet time) by 19:00 day before trip then we can arrange lifts as required.
  18. I was maybe thinking of going up the west coast driving from the Ulverston end.
  19. Not Official LCC Event Title: Advanced Whitewater River Trip - Grade III/IV Date: Saturday 13 January Location: River Tees - High Force down to Scooberry Bridge. Currently approaching a low medium level, so should still be at a nice level tomorrow. It’s a relatively short section so the plan would be to repeat it. The section downstream of Barnard Castle could be an alternative if there is opposition to my original suggestion! Meet Time: Meet 10:00 just past the road bridge which crosses the river on the B6277 on the way into Middleton-in Teesdale. There is a Church on the right hand side of the road and a sign for a public car park. This is not far from the get out for the High Force section and not too far to get to Barnard Castle for the lower section either if we decide to do that. Contact: Matt Butel I assume Mike and Brian will arrange something for travel between themselves, as will Sten and I. Give me a text/call/email if required. Update: meeting time pushed back to 10:00. Cheers, Matt. Matt.
  20. Not Official LCC Event Title: Advanced Whitewater River Trip - Grade III/IV Date: Sunday 10th December Location: TBC - depending on water levels; hopefully somewhere a bit different, maybe Upper Tees. Meet Time: TBC - depends on location Contact: Matt Butel - 07494416803 - m.t.butel@icloud.com Will confirm details (location and meet time) by 19:00 day before trip then we can arrange lifts as required. Cancelled - levels are low and all water is frozen up in the hills so not going to rise either. Also forecast to remain sub-zero during the day tomorrow.
  21. I'm supposed to be playing cricket, but forecast (for cricket) looks rubbish, so if cricket is cancelled I will come.
  22. TRIP CANCELLED I had a bike accident last weekend so need a week off paddling whilst I heal! Not Official LCC Event River Washburn release scheduled from 09:00 - 17:00 Grade II/III river - description can be found here: https://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/rivers/england/north-east/river-washburn Plan is to arrive around 10:00, do a couple of runs of the top section which can be done without a shuttle, followed by a full run of the river. This can be flexible depending on what people want to do. It is a good river to practice and refresh skills and generally have a play before the winter paddling season kicks off. Release is confirmed by Yorkshire Water a few days prior to the event (usually on the Wednesday). Travel time from Kendal approx 1.5 hours Meeting time 08:30, location (for lift sharing etc...) TBC Trip coordinator - Matt Butel (07494416803 / m.t.butel@icloud.com)
  23. I will join you Sten should the trip be cancelled. Having said that it looks as though some rivers have come up a bit overnight.
